Default Will Polyurethane Adhesive Show Up?

This past weekend I spent most of my time cutting and putting the speaker box together. I was very excited because this is my first DIY project.

I used Polyurethane adhesive to glue the boards together. Now I know I used WAY too much and I am left with a box with lots of dry poly on most of the joints. I started using a knife and rough sand papers to remove them. It is a long and painful process. Even then, I am still left with white spots here and there (Poly turns white when I sand it). Will the white spots show up if I stain it? I will be using a dark stain.

    Thanks much!

If it's the foaming kind, then no. You didn't use too much, as this is what it does. A chisel is a decent tool to chip it off. Personally, I prefer to chisel off, or sand the excess off with an ordital sander. You could flush-trim with a router to remove excess as well. I hope you waited 24 hrs to start removing. The glue isn't cured for 24 hrs. As long as the glue is only in the cracks, and is sanded off the rest, stain should be fine. Paint is a better option. What material did you use? Ply or MDF? If MDF, make sure you rub Elmer's glue in the edges to seal it and take finish better. If Ply, then this isn't necessary.
