  1. Default Ruby Buyout caps

Hello all, I recently purchased about 2 dozen various values of the Ruby brand caps on sale here at P.E. for a tube amp rehab. They are all polarized and have a shiny-metal end and a black end. The label has the obvious polarity indicator pointing to the shiny metal as ground. Well, that's all good, but ONE lone cap has it's label exactly the opposite- poiting to the black end. Should I disregard that cap's label, and assume the metal end is also negative, or should I send that one back?

    Thanks, Aric

I have another I was going to use for another project which is properly labeled, so I'm goign to send this guy back. Not a smart experiment to perform on an irreplacable vintage tube amp.

    Best regards, Aric

I don't think anyone wants to touch the question and would all agree to replace that cap. It's not just lack of enough info and possible damage you could cause, but God forbid personal injury. Tube gear is lethal voltages generally and I obey an attitude that you can NEVER make any mistakes with high voltage simply because it only takes once....on the lighter side you could discover another hobby as your chassis launches across the house or creates a small military grade explosion...
