I am trying to Design a 12db crossover network at 3.5k. I know the value of the parts I am supposed to use, but I don't know the value of such things as rms value for the coil and voltage for the capcitors. The speaker I am using is a 12 inch, 8 ohm, 500 rms speaker. Are there any parts at Parts Express that you could recommend.
Re: Crossover network
Are you planning on using a 12 inch woofer up to 3.5kHz? That is very high for a big woofer, it will probably have harsh sounding distortion. You should consider using a midrange or different tweeter.
What woofer and tweeter are you planning to use? What do you plan to use these speakers for? Are these for home use?
You might want to look at the Blue Wonder speaker project for some ideas. The woofer and midrange are no longer available, but you could substitute Eminence drivers for good value and sound.
I recommend the Dayton Metallized Polypropylene Capacitors and 14ga or 15ga inductors, they should sound good and handle plenty of power.
