OT: dimmer switch with halogens?

I'm pretty sure I can't use a dimmer switch with most normal flourescent bulbs, but can I do it with halogens?

Yup, Halogens are good to go with dimmers. I have about six lamps around the house that use halogens with dimmers. Makes for great mood lighting, It's a nice soft warm glow, and natural. not this artificial crap with flourescents.
