OT: Dimness during playback

Hello, i've got a problem when i play a movie... the picture gets VERY VERY dim and shadows turn to black spots and faces turn into shadows. it seems that someone has turned the contrast and brightness down. the monitor and player(WMP) settings are fine. Media player Classic also has this issue...

the movie im experiencing this with is X-Men: The Last Stand, which was downloaded. i've watched it over 15 times and today, this dimming issue started... i also played a DVD and it turned out the same way. has anyone have an idea of whats going on?? how can i resolve this?

Monitor: CTX CRT 19"
GPU: Nvidia GeForce 6600 - Analog input
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3000+
512 MB Ram

Well, not giving us much to go on. Check your Overlay settings in the "advanced" display propertes. Also might want to see about reinstalling your video codecs (I just purge 'em all and install ffdshow). Oh, and stop pirating movies.
