My family room the back is open to a dinning area. I have speakers (rear) mounted on the ceiling where the family room ends and the dinning room starts. It is hard to hear the rears, a small sweet spot. So I was thinking of make the front baffle larger. So if it would work then the baffle would have to be very large?

Any ideas?

Maybe move them closer to the side walls and hope?

Move them closer & hope. Making the baffle larger will only bump up the output over a narrow range, and it may really mess with the voicing.

Have you thought to try them on the side walls or even on the ceiling in front of the side walls just to the rear and to either side of the listen area (aim carefully)?
