Default Speaker Workshop in Ann Arbor?

Just wondered if there was someone in the Southeastern Michigan area that has worked with Speaker Workshop or one of the other design programs and might be interested in showing me what they have done with the program/programs.

I built a subwoofer using WinISD, but Speaker Workshop or some other program that has crossover design and a more sophisticated signal generator capability will be needed for the main speakers. I have the parts and expect to build the Wallin Jig, but I thought I would compare notes with someone first.

Ann Arbor is a nice town but has gotten too yuppie in the last couple of decades. You can find most anything you want, including that. The Hash Bash is pretty much dead and was something I had no desire for. It was fun to observe as a kid though. I lived there for some 45 years. The TOP is in full swing right now and we frequent it often for the great outdoor entertainment, as now I’m just down the road in Dexter.

I played with SW for a while but gave up as I didn’t have the time or will to commit to become a speaker designer.

Unfortunately, I may have to take that approach also. I worked with it a little this morning and the files it creates appear to be integrated in a master file or something, because I can't find them with explorer. Not a big deal, except it makes the learning curve a little steeper.

Spending some time in the setup area of the Workshop this morning by following the "Unofficial Speaker Workshop Manual". It helps, but does not follow the old ....

Tell them what you are going to tell them
    Tell them
Tell them what you told them

Phylosophy. There are some minor steps that he skips. That would not be a problem if I had a thorough "walk through the menu system" appoach at first. I only have a vague idea what he is trying to accomplish with the first test steps to setup the sound card. It was layed out in a "just follow the steps and don't ask any questions" approach.

I bought the parts for the jig, but hesitate taking the couple of hours it would take putting it together until I am convinced this is the way to go.

Again, anyone that would like to compare notes?

Again, if I could review it with someone on a one on one basis for about an hour, a large part of the learning curve would be accomplished.

Oh, by the way. If you abandoned the Speaker Workshop, what did you do after that? I just want to select drivers, build a couple of main speaker enclosures and design a good crossover. Finally, I want to test the result to see if it does what I anticipated. That is what I did with the subwoofer design and it worked out well. I did not have to design the crossover, so this project is a little more involved.
