    Default Replacement Drivers

Hello, I have an Infinity center channel speaker that has 2 5 inch drivers in it. I need to replace them. What do I replace them with, mids or subwoofers? Do they need to be mag sheilded if they are next to a LCD projector TV? They use the Infinity 902-5621 Img injection molded graphite 5" speakers.

    Thank you

Default What's the model number of the CC?

I may be able to direct you if the driver is availible, but I need the series and model number like Primus P252 or whatever

I have looked all over externally for model number and I can't find one. I pulled out the driver that is damaged and found the number for it but that is all I can find. The cc does have a tweeter. Is there a place I should be looking for the model number?

The number is usually on a sticker or plate at the wire hookups. Infinity generally used the same drivers for a series. Such as the 5" woofer for the Primus series is the same driver used in the small 2 way, the larger floorstander and the center channel (All the same driver). Many older drivers are still available, but most over 3-5 yrs old are just not made anymore, so if they are in stock they are the last to be had. For replacements you'd want to look at the crossover point and try to match the woofers to the old specs as best you can. If you can't you will be looking at building a crossover, in which case a drastic improvement can be had by making one of the woofers mids only and the remaining woofer lower mids and bass only. However, let's try and match them up or get replacements if they're around first, lol.

There was a sticker there that says, "A128-07818" buy I can't find anything on a google search.

What's damaged on them? If it is just the surrounds, ie the rubber between the cone and the frame, then you can replace that and have workable speakers again.

If it is what is wrong, then that is what I would do. Trying to find a replacement that is set up for that enclosure may be less than perfect. Replacing the bad part is more preferable, and does not take rocket science to do.

    Guy,

Here's the contact info for any possible Infinity parts. Call or e-mail them with what info you have and they can tell you if any replacements are around. If not we'll try and get you fixed up with some other suitable drivers.

Hi thanks, I really don't care if the are replaced with Infinity parts. I was just thinking of replacing the two drivers and if I have to replace the tweeter. Maybe just think of what I have as an enclosure that needs the drivers and crossover. In that case what would you need to know, like the sizes of the holes? I kind of like the enclosure I have because it fits the spot nicely. I know thats a stupid reason but I don't know where I would put something bigger.

I am still curious what kind of drivers go in a center channel, mids or woofers.

Those would be considered mid-woofs, if you wanted to compare use the resorces guide and the chart for woofer comparison will let you see size, optimum cabinet volume, etc. and that will get you close on figuring a replacement. Cabinet type (sealed/vented) and size will dictate what you choose from. It is likely those were Vifa (Peerless V-line) sourced originally.

Hi, my cabinet is not box shape so it will be hard to figure the cu. feet. One side of the cabinet is angled. To complicate things more it is not vented.

I have been looking at the HiVi drivers and it is hard to find a tweeter that isn't over 3 db range on the spl.
