Default Help pick a tweeter please *PIC*

So Bob Blickle was driving down A1A one foggy night and struck something and when he got out to check, there were several dead grays scattered around the car. In an effort to scatter the remains before the guys from Project Blue Book arrived, he "parted them out" and I got the heads. After a couple weeks on the beach the crabs left me with these, eight of them to be exact - just enough for 3 MTMs and a pair for surrounds (why let a perfectly good dead alien go to waste?). Since the neck/faceplate openings were so well cast I hated to re-drill them and the driver that fits the opening best was the M5N. And it looks pretty cool, too.

So now it comes time to pick a HF unit and so far I considered the BG neo3 or a Seas 27. The section to join the MTM would be 5" ID PVC or equivalent, so a columnar section. The neo 3 with no plate could fit with a simple cut and small chamfer above and below. The Seas faceplate would be neat if heated and drooped over a cylindrical section to match the tube, but I haven't played with the plate to see if it's feasable. Novel suggestions and experiences welcome always!

As for their com units, well, let's just say that the House of Blickle doesn't need cable anymore...

Default So is this BB's car??? *PIC*

If so I will be heading down that way so I can lay claim to that sweet repo bounty. How else would I get that much money for a '64 Malibu?

As for the tweeter, I like the idea of doing the Salvador Dali to the Seas tweeter faceplate. That is if it will work.

    Biffmeister,
    Those fit amazingly well.
    How is the enclosure Q?
Are you planning to borrow some extra volume from inside the PVC?

Re: Damping... Maybe the liquid stuff? I worry about film adhering adequately to that rough interior finish.

I used that M5N and was very pleased with the sound of that driver. It can play pretty darn low to IMHO. Very nice driver for a very nice price. I believe I called them the Ariels but ended up inthe hospital so I can't really recall. I have them as bedroom speakers at this point but they filled my living room with plenty of sound. A nice seas driver would fit the bill nicely. HOpe it all works out.

Somewhere within this pyramid o'papyrus I have most of the specs worked out, but the interior volume with driver in place (measured by the bag of water method) was 3.7 liter, and yes, the length of the tube will get me up to where I need to be displacement wise - IIRC, a 2x5 vent in 15 liters gives me a 50 hz tune. I thought about liquid silicone used for mold making if needed. At the moment the former cranial caps are lined with HDs heaviest carpet pad attached with super 77, which stuck really well so far and they now have a dull thud when struck. The openings were 5 and 11/16ths and the Hi-Vis don't even wiggle. I only bought one to check fit, so 7 more to go when I decide who carries the top. Now that my shooting season is fading in the rearview I can get back to play time. Think the grays would mind a dark gray hammered metal finish?

TB 25-1414 titanium neo-tweeters. I am missing a midbass, but nothing else at this point. Paul- you have .frd for the M5N?
