    Default DIY Dust Collection Table

Checked the Archives on this one too and ran into something totally unrelated as well.

Has anyone built their own table with a downdraft dust collection system built in? I want one for times I'm doing small hand sawing as well as sanding. I've worked on Pro tables designed for this but never seen a home built one.

    Thanks - Soupy

I would suggest that you check out one or more of the woodworking forums. I know I have seen them in the past on one of them, but I don't remember which one.

<A HREF="http://www.rockler.com">www.rockler.com</A> ....they have plans to a DIY downdraft table that you can build yourself. It looks really nice, too.

Have you seen Kevin Brady's Dust Control Devices yet? <A HREF="http://users.goldengate.net/~kbrady/DustCollection.html">http://users.goldengate.net/~kbrady/DustCollection.html</A> Also, he has some nice projects on the following page that should be of interest, since he is also a speaker builder. <A HREF="http://users.goldengate.net/~kbrady/page02a.html">http://users.goldengate.net/~kbrady/page02a.html</A> I wonder if this Kevin is here at PE?

Or how about this Air Filter/Downdraft Table? <A HREF="http://www.woodworkersworkshop.com/p...ding_table.htm">http://www.woodworkersworkshop.com/p...ding_table.htm</A>

I Really like this one. <A HREF="http://www.woodworkersworkshop.com/c...es/9768_files/">http://www.woodworkersworkshop.com/c...es/9768_files/</A> . It also works effortlessly with the table saw. I am currently using a floor freezer with top made out of 3/4" plywood. It serves me well, is a freezer/storage, but also love the idea of a downdraft collector.

    Brian -

Thanks - I'm there now. I wouldn't have thought a DIY for this popular or I would have looked right away. I'm surprised.

Thanks. I agree with you and hadn't seen this one. That's sweet.

Appears an easy build with low buck materials. That He used duct tape earns him points in my book. My kind of guy! Any fan of Red Green is alright in my book. Of course I'll substitute OSB to make it even more of a real Man's project! Flat black Tractor paint from Farm & Barn. Plenty of used 2 x4 's from failed previous projects around here.

I use a woodsucker cyclone for suction. Unfortunately, this unit is no longer in production. I suggest spending some time reading the Bill Pentz site: <A HREF="http://billpentz.com/woodworking/cyclone/Index.cfm">http://billpentz.com/woodworking/cyclone/Index.cfm</A>

This is a picture of the table I built and use. It has 2x4 cross braces drilled with a 1" bit for airflow. The photo is slightly dark due to the light from the window.

    The table works wonderfully!!
