DIY LEXINGTON: Official Announcement *PIC*

Provided Link: http://www.ket.org
DIY LEXINGTON is now official.
Sunday, November 25, 10:00am to 6:00pm
KET Studios, 600 Cooper Drive, Lexington, KY
We're going to try to keep it fairly casual and fun. Just bring your designs and we'll listen to them all and have a good time.
We have a conference room for food and discussion, a corner of the TV studio for listening, and a soundproofed recording studio for testing (if we can get some testing equipment)
I'm providing amplification (Yamaha rx-v1400), basic wiring (speaker wire, RCA's and optical), a CD player and speaker stands for the smaller boxes. Anyone who wants to bring their own amps, cables or other equipment is welcome.
We are working on getting sponsors and door prizes.
I'm planning to send out for lunch so you'll need to bring some money to cover that, if interested. I'll provide a cooler of water, paper plater and napkins. I'm asking that everyone provide some snacks to share. There are vending machines but on the weekend they may not be stocked so you'll probably want to bring other drinks as well.
Other details as well as a headcount will be posted as we get closer to the event.
Hope to see you there!
Clark B.

I'm hoping to go. Anybody need a ride?
I need a copilot. If someone wants picked up on my way I could manage that. I'll be taking I-75/275 south to Lexington from Lima. I'll be going the night prior if I go, and arriving about 11pm-12am. We could split a room if you want, or crash at Robert's if he still has room. (I still have to clear this with the spouse.) If you have a small pair to bring along, it's not an issue, as I'm only bringing 2 pair this time.
If anyone's interested, let me know! It will probably make/break the trip if I get a copilot or not. My limit is about 4 hrs on my own, but 5.5hrs is longer than that. I need to yack and avoid boredom/sleep. =-)

Glad you're trying to make it. Hope it works out.
Only two pair? How can you limit yourself?

I'm there
Can't wait to be there. Good job on organizing this on such short notice as it were. Looks like a pretty good turn out is possible so this could be a lot of fun.

So far no one has grabbed any space at the house, so it's all open. I don't have anything new completed yet (have been on the road forever) but will bring my Reckhorn A400 along if anyone has an unpowered sub or biamp design and wants to play with it for bass.

Hey, please do bring that along
I'm considering getting one eventually and wouldn't mind taking a closer look at it. I would have taken you up on that offer but my plans are really up in the air as to when I'm leaving Indiana and from where I'm leaving from so I didn't want to trouble anyone with me arriving at an odd hour. How's things going out there? Be safe and I'll see ya in a couple of weeks.

bringing 240watt plate amp, too.

Come to think of it I 'll also be bringing my 240Watt Sub plate amp in its own box and my Titanic pedistal. Anyone is welcome to use the 240Watt if it means not having to pack as much along.

Re: If I make it...
...I'll be leaving Saturday morning. Does anyone know if Lynaugh's is still there? I _do_ understand that some folks will be doing the sports thing - I just figure the mildcats will be on the losing end...
Also, are there any non-fleabag hotels near UK that don't cost an arm and a leg?
(used to live at Maxwell and Lexington...)

Re: If I make it...
I've got a room booked at the "recently renovated" Best Western Regency Lexington that is "located within 15 minutes of everything in Lexington, the Best Western Regency Inn is only 4 miles from downtown, the University of Kentucky and Rupp Arena." Rates are pretty decent too.

Re: If I make it...
I'm pretty sure Lynaugh's is still there, but I haven't been over that way in quite a while (since I had kids). I'll check with some of my single friends and make sure.

Maybe not your way. I am taking hwy 30E to 309, and then south on I-75 to Lexington. That passes through Lima, Dayton, Springboro, etc as you head south. I think I'd have to go a lot more East to pick you up. Tell me I'm wrong, as I am not going without someone else along for the majority of the ride.

The car was packed to the gills last time, and I'm avoiding that hopefully from now on.

I hope to use your offer...
..if you'll have me. Otherwise I'll get a hotel on the fly- if someone can ride shotgun on my trek.

Re: DIY LEXINGTON: Official Announcement
Clark, thanks for organizing. Any updates on the sponsors? That would be a nice bonus!
I'm still planning on going. Only 83.4 miles drive for me. I'll definitely have 1 pair of speakers for the event.

If you happen to run into Rick, tell him Chuck Bogardus says howdy, and I'll be in for a pint of stout soon... I used to throw darts at his place when he opened the first one, just across the street.

"The usual suspects" will be contacted for participation with sponsorship. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. I just hope we don't suffer in this regard due to short notice. Stay tuned.
