Default Hafler amps on eBay -- High priced!

Check out this eBay auction. A pair of Hafler amps sold for $225 and their shipping cost was $125. Wow, such high prices!

The SE-120 has sold for $100 to $180. Its shipping weight is only 20 pounds. FEDEX will take it coast to coast for less than $28. The combined cost for the two on eBay is $350 which is about $175 for each. This seller really got a bunch of bucks for his 2 amps and made out like a bandit on the shipping cost.

FWIW, the SE-120 is a very nice little amp. If you study the schematics, it is identical to the Hafler 9130, Pro1200, P-125 and DH-120. This is a refined and well designed circuit. I use 4 of them in my HT and like the sound very, very much.

I am too much of collector of Haflers and must get rid of a couple of them. For starters, I have a DH-120 to sell for $125. It is all checked out and is working great and has good cosmetics. Shipping weight is 20#. More about this later......

I've got a little fan noise in the right channel of my Hafler 500. What might be suspect in such a case?

Maybe try moving the wiring? Do any of the AC lines travel near input wiring?

There is only one fan and if it is making a noise you should hear it equally in both channels. The fan is AC driven. Perhaps you are getting some slight AC interference? I would check connections, touch up some old solder joints, and maybe think about replacing the old electrolytics on the PCBs.

Twice I have fixed similar amps by replacing the input cap in the circuit or resoldering its joints. It and the small film caps nearby should filter a lot of "junk" that creeps into the signal path. Are they securely soldered?

    I'll look into your suggestions.

Default I was thinking of selling my DH-200.

I swapped it with my Adcom 545II. Wow, what a difference! They say all good amps sound about the same? Not in my system. Now I'm thinking about selling the Adcom!

I think those Hafler amps from the 80s are like Rodney Dangerfield. They don't get no respect. They remain one of the best bangs for the bucks.

and I'm asking $50 shipping... That's a little more than the amp-weight warrants, but then I learned my packing skills from someone named DickW, and that sucker's gonna be double-boxed, and hyuge....

When I checked earlier, the bidding itself was at $50ish...
