Thread: wiring

    Default wiring

I have a question on wiring speakers. If I have 5 8 ohm speakers, 3 wired in Parallel >>> and the other 2 in parallel >> would the first 3 be 2ohms now and the other 2 4 ohms? Now if I wire the 3 speakers to the 2 speakers in series for a parallel series connection does this give me 6 ohms now for all 5 speakers?

    Thanks

The 1st 3 would be 2.7 ohms (parallelled). If you series'd your 2 parallel groups, you'd have a 6.7 ohm load. Problem is, they wouldn't all play at the same volume. (I THINK) the doublet group would be approx. 3dB louder (really going out on a limb here).

Can anyone else agree with this?

1st I am guessing all 5 speakers are the same. second I know that 2 , 4 or 6 works series parallel mixed. Third the first 3 would be 8 ohm divide by 3 equals 2.67 the next two would be 8 ohm divide by 2 equals 4 ohm then series add 2.67 plus 4 equals 6.67 ohm. Dont do it phase problems and a lot other issues. parallel all 5 8 ohms divide by 5 equals 1.6 ohms then add this resistor in a pair of two cost 2.75 a pair. 10 ohm 50 watts in parallel will be 5ohm 100watts. place the pair on the positive lead of the speakers and 5 ohm plus 1.6 ohm will give you 6.6 ohms a safe load and all speakers will work equally.

Ok, so I would parallel wire all 5 speakers then buy a pair of these resistors and add one resistor to each of two speakers for 6.6 ohms, correct?
