Default Aurun Cantus AC130/F1 or MkII

It appears from postings here and elsewhere that the published specs on these drivers ae not being attained. Zaph reports 83.55 db in his T-S parameters, but it looks like about 86db on his graphs.

Just what sort of performance can we count on with these drivers?

    Thanks.

Just a quick comment about the SPL listed in the T/S parameters: It's an efficiency number based on 1W, not 2.83 v. Just that old efficiency vs sensitivity confusion again. For example, The RS150-8 and the RS150-4 appear to be almost the same efficiency in the T/S numbers but obviously the -4 is louder when driven with 2.83v. Also, the SPL in the T/S specs is calculated, and not actual.

The SPL shown in the response plots is done on a calibrated setup however, and should be very accurate.

I should probably add a comment to the test description about the SPL shown in the T/S numbers.

    Default Thanks John and...

.... you are in the middle of a miracle, John. You will never forget the details of this time. My little boy is 23, and ever time I see him, I see a flash of the little fellow that fit between my elbow and palm.

    Dig it!

No doubt! My daughter is 4, and my son is 3 months. It is amazing to watch them grow and change, especially when they are infants. They seem to change daily.

Maynard, I have a pair of the AC drivers. I believe that they are the 5.25" variety (AC130's?), so I will be very interested in what you find out. Please keep me posted.

I am currently involved in a design where I am using the AC130F1. (It's mounted from the inside of the baffle, so I don't have to mess with that flange, which is identical to my old Focal 5K's). My T/S numbers are similar to yours, but a little different in a couple of areas. Here are the values I measured (these are fully broken in too, as I have been playing with this speaker for a while now):

    Fs: 51.1
    Qes: .586
    Qms: 3.97
    Qts: .510
    Vas: 15.6 L
    Re: 7.47
    Le: .492
    Sens: 87.5 dB/2.83V

Ours are both much closer to each other's than they are to the AC's specs, which may throw some folks off. For me, since I am using it in a small sealed enclosure, these parameters work out very nicely here.

By the way, thanks for posting all of these driver evalulations and measurements. They really come in handy sometimes. And, congrats on the new family addition. I hope you are as blessed as I am with my little one.

    Jeff B.

Actually, yes. I also have a pair of the DVC Aurum Cantus 10" drivers for sale as well.

Send me an email and we can discuss.

They have never been hooked up or mounted. I believe the phrase is NIB.
