    Default Recessing driver

I'm about to begin a build of Shawn A's Silver Al's MkII and have run into a bit of a dilemma. I cannot find a 5/8th rabbetting bit anywhere to recess the DA175. Anyone know a trick to get around this? I've only been able to find the size I need in a set that includes different size bearings that you change on the bit to get different depth cuts. If I have to I will purchase this but it is $54 before shipping and I have to wait a week for it to get here. Any help is appreciated.

Are you using a jasper jig or similar to do your cuts?

Credit for this goes to LouC's web site. Wrap the bearing with electrical tape until you reach the depth you need - worked perfectly for me.

Well the electrical tape is a great idea but I need to make the cut wider not narrower. And I am using a jig. Thanks for the suggestions so far guys.

I'm not familiar with your particular project, but if the recess is circular try the following: If you haven't cut out the hole yet, use the jig to cut the recess, then change the radius to cut out the hole. If you've already cut the hole out, make a plug (use the cutout piece and some evenly spaced shims to center it) to fill the hole and then use the jig to cut the recess.

Thanks for the idea Brian. I haven't cut the driver holes yet so that will work great. Thanks again.
