speaker design question???
I am new at building speakers. I have a pair of old speaker boxes that are really heavy and nice, and I would like to install new speakers in them. The boxes are three way,and each one has a four inch tweeter opening,a 10 inch midrange opening, and a 12 inch woofer opening. I selected from the site some components, all 8 ohm,and would like to have opinons to wether this combination would work well.
For the tweeters two goldwood gt-25 4 inch cone tweeters. For the woofers two goldwood gw-212/8 12 inch oem woofer. I was wondering if could build a adapter for the 10 inch opening to install normal midranges,Goldwood gm/8 five inch midrange or just go with 10 inch drivers. I selected the crossover 3-way 8 ohm 8000/5000 Hz 100W board.
My amp is a htr-5930 5.1 yamaha 500 watt homevideo amp bought from circiut city. What I am building does not have to sound perfect, but any help would be greatly appriciated and you would be helping some get into the hobby. Please send an Email if possible. Thanks!!!!!

Sounds more like a 10" two-way with a 12" passive radiator. There aren't a whole lot of 10" woofers that would work with a typical tweeter.
But, you could go for the RS270 as the 10" woofer and the TB W4-1337S (pictured) 4" full-ranger for a mid/tweet. Use the Dayton SD315-PR 12" Passive Radiator to tune the enclosure for the RS270.
