New small mono amp at mcm
Could be useful for a small set of powered monitors, provided they are REALLY sensitive. No specs of course, so it could very well suck. I'm, gonna order two and report back with my findings...
Re: New small mono amp at mcm
The MCM tech that told me that this amplifier is the same as the 28-6402 that they have sold for some time. MCM had these special made with a housing that includes a volume pot, power jack and an RCA input to make them easier to use.
I have actually used quite a few of the 6402's, as well as a few of the 6400's and 6403's. They work well in mid-fi applications, but don't expect the world in hi-fidelity (note the price).
In my case, I use 6402's or 6403's to power a pair of ceiling speakers, connected to a wall mouted LCD television in some local fast food restraunts. For that, they work absolutely great. However, if you want to power hi-end bookshelf speakers, you may be more than a bit dissapointed.
Also note, the power supply will make a big difference as well. If you use a wall wart, make sure it is well filtered, regulated and has plenty of current.
Anyway, hope that helps....
