Paging Max... *PIC*

Max, I just noticed in the "let's see your subwoofer" thread a while back, that you used the HiVi 10" sub recently.
I wanted to use that driver since I first saw it. How do you like it? Would 500 watts do or is 1,000 better? I would like to hear what you think of it.
I just noticed that I have an empty corner in my home theater area upstairs, and another sub would fit in there nicely.
Thanks,
TomZ

Re: Paging Max...
I'll have a pair, hopefully soon. I plan to *add* these to the Scandivifia project. I will try out a passive xover first, but we'll see where that goes. I think the 500W will be fine, as the simulation I did is throwing a lot of output at that level. If you want particulars, e-mail me...

Nice
Hi Tom,
I saw that 2 Max are following the Tech Talk, so I'll try if my "original" nickname will go better....
As for the sub I am running it with a Rythmik audio A350 basic...
<A HREF="http://www.rythmikaudio.com/amplifiers.html">http://www.rythmikaudio.com/amplifiers.html</A>
which is a 380w rms, and It does pretty well..... I haven't tried anything bigger, and to tell you the truth I was worried about, 'cause the sensitivity of the HiVi is a bit low, according to the numbers.
<A HREF="http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showd...number=297-460">http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showd...number=297-460</A>
Anyhow, I was using the same sub and cabinet with the Dayton RS265HO
<A HREF="http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showd...number=295-462">http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showd...number=295-462</A>
and it turned out the HiVi has a better sensitivity than the Dayton, even if the numbers are in favor of the Dayton. The charts however shows the HiVi has higher SPL especially at low frequencies. With the Dayton I had the amp set at 7-8 o'clock position, with the HiVi is set straight up at 6 o'clock....
Having said that I think the 500w would do just fine, but if I were to buy another one, I would buy another Rythmik A370.
Ciao
Max ... or Wurz.. as you guys wish...

Re: Nice
Thanks Max/Wurz for the info.
I haven't tried the RS series subs yet, but I want to give the 8" a try soon as well.
