Do all grills cause difraction?

What about metal grills or foam like type used as an air flter in air conditioners?

It's usually the grill frame that causes the most diffraction.

I had a barbucue last night and didn't notice any diffraction issues stemming from the grill.

He's another person who doesn't need validation from me, but on his technical posts he is nearly always right, so read them a few times if you need to taking that into consideration.

I would think if you put a healthy dose of felt around the tweeter, and stuck with a wooden frame with a normal fabric covering, there wouldn't be much in the way of diffraction problems. As Pete said, it's usually the frame that is the issue, and I would think that the tweeter's response would be affected more than the woofer's (the woofer's frame is probably pretty close to the frame, so the diffraction frequencies would be in it's stopband).
