Default Another Tweeter Question

Here's the original thread (has the application)... http://www.pesupport.com/cgi-bin/config.pl?read=405413

I just remembered that I have several of the old Linaeum tweeters in storage NIB. I think they called these the 180 degree version. Mine are the baffle mount... not the larger top mount. Are these good for my application?

The Linneaum tweets are pretty cool, but they are a little dull both on and off axis. Funny you should bring them up, look what I am right now selling!

Did a crossover mod, based on Dennis Murphy's work on this speakers bigger brother.

I should clarify, that by being dull both on and off axis, does not mean they are dull all around. It just means the sweet spot is somewhere around 15-20 degrees. Of course, due to the nature of the tweeter, as you move closer or farther, it hnges as well. Hard to work with, but I found they made a great HT tweeter.

MIKE it looks like johnny richards has a pair of radio shack two ways with the linaeum tweeter and an mtm. I have a pair of unused linaeum tweeters with almost no use at all. i pulled them and put the morel 39's in my shack speaker. They would cross at 3000 I think. If you want I will sell them for 14 dollars shipping included. Phil

    Default Thanks Philip...

...but I already have at least six (maybe more) of the Linaeum tweeters NIB/unused. Plus I have some of the old Rat Shack aluminum cab bookshelf speakers with the same tweets.

I'd just like to know if these are a good choice for my application.

Those tweets should work. The aluminum cases are good very well made. I like to cut a piece of maple and refit it to the baffle. Then drop in the drivers. it gives a little more room and makes the speaker look warmer with out the grills. i think I can find one i have been working on. i'll send a picture.

Thanks, Philip. A pic would be great. You just gave me an idea... glue some really nice veneer to the aluminum cabs. What do you think? Would I need to strip the paint first?

This is a great sounding system for very little money. Add a receiver and you will have a system which will beat, hands down, anything you can buy new for the same price.

I have seen this subwoofer go for over 100 bucks on Ebay, and the center channel go for the same. I would like this system to go to someone local so UPS doesn't have a chance to break it apart!"

I just did the baffle first with paper for a templates then I drilled the holes in the wood to match the paper template and glued and screwed the new piece right into the old holes. The maple front looks nice. it is stored away I will find it tomorrow and send a picture
