Re: Fountek Neo CD1.0 discounted...
I think the G2si is built a little better. Seem a little more heaviery duty to me than the fountec CD1.0.

There aren't any ribbons in the Aurum Cantus line up that correspond to the NeoCD1.0. It has a 1.5" ribbon Vs. a 3" in the GS2 and Gs2i. The NeoCd3.0 would be a more comparable comparison since it's also a 3".
From a durability perspective, the ribbons in all the Fountek's are MUCH more robust than the Aurum Cantus. To be clear, I'm not bashing Aurum Cantus in any way. They are a fine ribbon but they do require careful handle during transport, no vacuuming the ribbons of dust etc. Even an open window where strong breezes are blowing across the speakers are a no-no.
The ribbon elements on both brands can be replaced but they need to be done just right and tested for frequency response accuracy once they're repaired. That's the reason Madisound requires damaged Fountek ribbons be sent in for repair. The Fountek are so robust, they do not require covering and only require they be handled with a little common sense.
BTW, for optimium performance any of the ribbons used in a point source speaker should be crossed at 3.5K or higher. The Fountek NeoCD1.0's should be crossed around 5K for best results.
