Default Video: how to make basic plexi boxes

Came across this on the tap plastics website today. 1/2" acrylic would make a decent medium sized speaker box. with a brace or two:

    Here's one on cutting plastic:

I hate quicktime so much, are these videos anywhere else where quicktime isn't needed?

To be more on topic, I recently built a box for my Cold Air Intake on my car out of 1/8" plexi. I marked out a design and cut away all the unecessary pieces and used a soldering torch to bend the sides and flame the cut edges. It turned out very nice.

I have also worked with lots of acrylic in the past making protein skimmers for my friend that runs a saltwater fish store.

Sure, just replace "quicktime" in the url with "windowsmedia"

Making things from plexi is not hard. I learned how to do it in middle school shop and summer camp. Here's a pic of a book rack I made for my wife to use on the treadmill. The crack at the lower right happened when the rack got dropped on the floor; I didn't line up the edges exactly right when I repaired it.

The TAP plastics video is correct; you can cut plexi with a regular tablesaw blade, but it has to be sharp. If you use the same blade you've been using on MDF, you will be very unhappy with the results.

My edges aren't polished. They would have looked much better if I'd had a torch to flame-polish them.

    Best regards,
    Bill
