Default Do any of you have a Dayton HSU12?

I'm curious to find out if this thing performs as well as Dr. Hsu's other subs.

I don't thin you were being ignored, I just don't think anyone has used it. At least not the people that frequent this board as they're much more likely to build their own.

Don't know for sure, but my guess is that it has no better than a Quatro 12" driver and pretty standard 250w plate amp in a ported box. With nice feet and the Hsu name for $390.

The 15" kit #300-770 would likely outperform it for $100 less. The 12" RS kit would surely outperform it for ~$100 more. Or you could roll your own using a 12" DVC #295-158($100), a BASH 500w amp #300-752($230), and a couple of port tubes and a sheet of MDF(~$40), and for $370 and a little sweat you'd have a better sub too.

If money was tight, a 12" Quatro($90) and a 240w amp($130) is a proven design with the same materials above($40) will do the same for $260.

I already have a home made sealed enclosure that I built using a 15" Tempest sub and the PE 250 watt plate amp, but I don't like the sound of it. It's very boomy sounding and has no definition. I like tight, punchy bass. I don't know if it's the enclosure or where I have it located in the room, or what the problem is. I don't think the problem is the amp (as in not enough power) or the sub (as many other people who have used this sub love it).
