Default New car sound options for the new Magnum.....

    All-
I've been investigating the speaker installations in the new wheels, and I know how to remove the rear 6x9's easily. One screw underneath the removeable tonneau cover, and then it pops out.

I *can* remove the door speakers, but the plastic-fasteners at the upper corners (of the lower half of the door) won't pop loose. There are 5-6 screws other than 2 of these. I have panel-poppers, but it won't give. Are these replaceable? If they are, I'll crack them off and get new ones because they don't want to give.

I am uncertain of the front-of-the-dash location, as it doesn't *look* like it's fastened anywhere. Does it just pop-out?

I'm keeping the head, and will run its *possibly* balanced high-level output to the amp I have. I'm thinking the dash speakers are high-passed, and the doors are low-passed, as they don't play the same ranges. If this is the case, I might even run the dash speakers off the head, and the doors off the amp. Sub is a given.
    Advice?

I hate to give bad news, but I think that you may need to jsut take the door off to replace the factory speakers in the doors. I would do it to prevent breaking anything.

I don't think you understand me. The panels come off. I can feel the drivers, but the plastic-pop-pieces that hold it on in 2 places don't want to come out.

Ok, I'm lost too - are you having problems removing the door panels, or the door speakers?

Bear in mind that the deck may be using some sort of active EQ to compensate for the stock speakers' response. This could result in excessive bass/treble if you replace them with more capable speakers.

I had the same problem on a Pontiac Montana, only it had more of those plastic pieces. The plastic holders have about six barbs along the shaft. I bought mine from a Chevy dealer in town. A bit expensive but I needed them quick.

    Lotsa a luck on yours.

You'll need to make yourself at home at the local Magnum forums. They have all the answers.
