OT: What a great forum
Only been here a few days, and I have to say what a pleasure it is to be a part of this community.
Everyone is extremely helpful, polite and mature... I'm guessing that the average age here is at least a good decade above the car audio site I've spent most of my time on prior to this one... I think you all know the kind of crap that flies around on those kind of forums.
I want to thank everyone for their help. As I've just gotten into this DIY HT hobby, I've had a thousand questions, and more than likely I've been posting too much ... you've all been very patient and helpful with this humble noob, and I really appreciate it.
I don't want to be the guy who years from now says: "Remember that first set of speakers I built when I had no idea what I was doing? What a pile of sh*t those were..."... I feel confident that you guys aren't letting me become that guy.
Thanks again for all your help.

Why I oughta. . . .
Thank you.
That was the nicest compliments we've received in a very long time.
The new forum format here makes it harder for some of the previous trouble makers to hit and run.
We all have to be nice now that we are registered.

Hey Lunchmoney,
I've been watching your questions. If you ask nice questions, you'll get nice answers. And you do ask nice questions. The fact your spelling and grammer are good also help. We're a bunch of language snobs around here.
I think you're really going to like your new speakers.
Building it big and playing it loud! Because we all know size really does matter, and a little over compensation never hurt anyone.

The new format has made it a lot less conversational. But, I have to say that Lunchmoney's threads have been a lot like what had drawn me to this place in the past.
Lunch, you have only seen a portion of the knowledge and generosity that abounds here.

Re: OT: What a great forum
I was in a similar position quite a while ago, with the only experience under my belt being constructing cabinets for my first speakers in 1977, a pair of Speakerlab S2's. That started all this madness for me...when friends heard how they compared to their various commercial brands, I was building enclosures for many of the Speakerlab designs to replace the speakers they used to think were awesome. Before I even had my first post here, I found Wayne J.'s site through reading all the postings. I made the DBP's, simple 2-ways using Dayton drivers. Wow, how come they sounded SO MUCH better than the speakers I tried to do using book formula XO's with more expensive drivers? I stuck a toe in here and found the error of my ways. At least I had enough experience in building boxes that those turned out pretty good. It was the XO and my lack of knowledge of it, that was holding me back. That little budget project and this forum opened up a whole new world of audio nirvana, through proper XO design. Haven't stopped since. The only projects I've designed on my own are a few subs. No XO designing required there. I'm fairly computer illiterate, so getting up to speed with some of the design programs has been difficult...plus most of my time is occupied with motorcycling, so I don't have a lot of extra time to spend on the computer.
Plus, when other folks ask ?'s, even if they're simple, first-time ones, I always learn something. I love the creative look of your project. By using a proven design along with your talent, you'll have something to be very proud of. And many envious friends, who might want you to build something for them. That's the situation I'm in. I encourage folks to bring their speakers over and compare with some of the DIY speakers I have. Usually a couple times a month there's an informal shoot-out going on. Haven't been bested by a commercial design yet. Of course, I haven't had any Wilson's or other outrageously-priced stuff here, but just about any popular brand name you can think of has passed through my door. And I get to build a DIY project for them. Never fails. Glad you found this forum...your ears will thank you for years to come.
