Hey dark, I'm using it in a .25 cu. ft. (net) rear-ported box, but it's one of Curt's designs...sealed or ported:

The ported version uses the 260-388 adjustable-length port with the adjustable sleeve not used...it nets a 1 3/8"D x 4.5"L port. Here's mine in unfinished form using the silkie tweeter:

I think he specifies the same volume for sealed, also. But you could run the numbers through WinISD and see if there's any advantages to using a larger cabinet.

Question Re: Best size for the dayton dc130bs-4?

    John,
I guess you drilled extra holes in your tweeter faceplates? One thing I don't care for too much about those tweeters is how flimsy the faceplates are. I thought aluminum was cheap? Heck, they make disposable soda cans out of the stuff, what would it add to the cost of the tweeter production to put a nice sturdy aluminum face plate, 25 cents?

How do you like the sound of those speakers, compared to some other speakers? I've been surprised by those little 5.25" paper woofers, you can get a lot of bass out of them if you know what you're doing. Though I did find the top end a little difficult to work with if you don't want to crossover very low.

Dan Carroll had a drawing w/measurements for the 6-hole pattern on those tweeters...I have it around here somewhere. It's on the 'net too, I just can't remember where. If you post a ? for Dan or anyone that might have it, I'm sure you could get it. The drawing Dan sent me was the exact size of the faceplate, so I just taped it on the tweeter and marked the hole locations. I suppose you could just eyeball it or take some measurements. I've used those tweeters in quite a few projects and never liked the 3-hole pattern...always a little bulge between the holes.
For what it cost to build 'em, even including something for my time, they stomp commercial stuff that costs $300-$500 a pair. There's been similar-sized 2-ways brought to my house from Polk, Advent, EPI, Boston Acoustics, Infinity etc. and none of them measure up to the SQ of the TriTrix. I have those folks wanting me to build a pair for them. The overall SQ has more definition throughout the freq. range...highs are smoother and clean, mids are just right (not forward/over-pronounced) and the bass response is lower with more definition. Of course, I have no measurements to prove it, but everyone who's listened to them side-by-side with store brands agrees. Plus the imaging is superior; it's one thing that really stands out during comparisons. I'm definitely not a XO expert or anywhere close to it, so I go with what Curt came up with. But for the price, it's a pretty good tweeter.
