    Default Tb W4-616sa

Has anybody besides me jumped on these at $13 ea.?

I think I'm going to use them w/ the HIVI top-mounts I picked up for $10 a while ago for some office speaks.

I got a pair when they were DOTD for $13. They measured pretty well, but I can't find the measurements right now.

I bought them as a replacement woofer for the radioshack minimus speakers.

I've actually used a pair of these in tiny vented cabinets tuned to 70 Hz or so, and they made tolerable single-driver speakers. They became surround speakers for a friend's home theater rig; I wouldn't mind having another pair just for desktop use.

(However, I really shouldn't be buying more drivers until I've used the ones I already have. Blasphemy, I know...but...I'm recently jobless )

This looks EXACTLY like the full rangers logitech used to put in some of their systems marketed for computer use, but those may have been a 3in version.

I put one in my test 3-CR cabinet a while back and was fairly surprised, RS100S's were a big improvement though.

I just hooked these up to my Logitech "naked", using alligator clips and a stripped throw-away RCA cable. THey don't sound half bad, given that they are just sitting on the desk, w/ no x-over at all. Imaging is excellent in the small sweet spot. The highs are directional, as expected, and a little "grainy" in the nearfield, also expected.

There is a 3" version of this driver, which PE used to carry.

    Cool Re: Tb W4-616sa

That's correct. There was a version of this driver that was used in the first Logitech THX-certified surround speaker systems, like the Z-560, and PE used to stock it alongside the W4-616.

However, I'm more of a fan of the 4" version for general listening, since it actually has some Xmax. I was surprised how many of the audiophile words I was able to apply to them while listening to them in some competent single-driver speakers. I imagine they'd be potent in a pair of TQWTs.

D*mn you people for tempting me!

I've got two arriving tomorrow. They are a perfect drop-in option for the Buschhorn MkII. I have used plenty of Tang Band 3 and 4 inchers now; there's always some good use for them.

Curses, I just pulled the trigger on a pair of my own. They'll be going into some TQWT cabinets. Or maybe some experimental mass-loaded horns (see Gemme Audio V-Flex technology).

That's $35 less that I have to spend on crossover parts. Thankfully, I can buy gas at $1.65/gal not too far from my house.
