Default TEAC AG-790a reciever cutting off at loud volume. It blew my last speakers now cuts o

Hi Guys,, dont know alot of the lingo here but am a good mechanic. This all started because I started practicing my drums in the house to my stereo.. I replaced my old Kenwood 1040 with a deal on Parts Express for the TEAC AG-790a. I REALLY Like it, basiclly just two channel, thats what I wanted. LOUD.Not surround. also got the Audiosource EQ200 to tie, Great! Blew the Hi, the the Mids and then the Subs out of my Prize 1991 Pioneer 12" factory cabs that I have cherrished for years. Fine, I got back on line and orderd the 260-210 3-way crossovers 8 ohm I think matches the reciever.. 2 mids and 2 tweeters. and 2 new 12" subs and very carefully replaced them all in my old cabs. Heavy Wires, sounds good, in fact sounds awesome till I try to get above a level to play my drums with, then cuts out ,, Blowes the breaker!
I keep looking at big dollar Peavy speakers and amps but not sure what im getting into. Not worried about the money anymore, I want it to Blow Me Away!

you don't have enough amp. 100 watt per channel will not cut it for your needs. what woofers did you buy? what mids? what tweeters?

look at this link. if the audiosource amp300 is for sale buy it.

    http://techtalk.parts-express.com/sh...d.php?t=208526

this is a seller of used audiosource amp300 235watts per channel for 4 ohms and 150watts per channel 8ohms this amp has the power you need.

lots of ways to go loud. i was going to buy the amp 300 but My house has a lot of gear and the wife is tied of looking at all of it. if he is still selling it has much more power for your needs.

    Pioneer FD10DP61 5" mids #280-250. Pioneer FD66AP45 2 1/2 Tweeters #270-032. (2) Crossover 3-way 8 Ohm 800/5000 100W #260-210 (good Price)

OK, here's your solution: Buy a set of Roland V Drums (digital - the touring set with kevlar heads for a natural feel) and a good set of headphones (Sony 7506 or Beyerdynamic 770's).

Your wife and neighbors will love you for it.

you also have an audiosource eq to even out the sound levels. the woofer needs a boost and the mid the high is good. I am guessing you are boosting the woofer and the mid a bit. Your problem is that the drivers can pull more power then your amp can give the woofers are rated for 120 watts so they can handle more then your amp can put out 100watts. plus the mids and tweeters can pull more so your speakers can pull 150watts your amp can put out 100watts. you need a bigger amp. 150 per channel at 8 ohms. the used audiosource amp300 for sale will put out enough. I have a new amp from stellar labs an sla 470 that will do it also. It is new in box and costs more. Around 225 shipped is what i would want. see if the audiosource amp300 is still for sale. phil

Ah ha I heard you practicing ---- If you don't have to shlepp some loud old P/A cabinets around nows a good time to pick up some nice stuff that will produce the d.b. levels you need to drum along with -you would need a very big hi fi rig that would go loud enough so you could play drums to.Its apples and oranges P/A cabs compared to high fidelity speakers that aren't made for shear dynamic range with compromising fidelity for volume.

Your amp gets in trouble because you have to drive it so hard, tweets will blow out-woofers will weld themselves into rubbish .

I would give you some of my p/a that probably won't be used but unfortunately i live in the west San Fernando Valley above & west of Los Angeles.

There's your problem. Those 12" DVCs are 4ohm. The TEAC isn't handling the 4ohm load very well and that's why it's cutting out when you try pushing it to 11.

Thanks to all. Hey you are right about these 12" woofer specs. #295-490. Says they have (2) 8 ohm coils but than it says Impedance 4 ohm , in a different place. I only hooked up to one pair of terminals and thought i was doing it right.
This gets frustrating! I sure do like the Idea of having a seperate amp anyways. wether I crank it up or not.
Sure wish I knew more about it
