Got spamed by Tangband a couple of days ago...
and just now looked at my mail. Email flyer for several drivers, but the ones that interested me were the Tangband W8-1808 and the W8-1772. Went to the Tangband website and looked them up in the "New Produces" area. Claimed by the company to be full range paper drivers with "fabric" surround, and 92 or 93db sensitive and "low distortion." Sorry, can't copy the link.
Did a search of the internet and didn't find any information about them. Anyone know anything about these drivers? Anyone know of any measurements posted anywhere?
Any info would be appreciated.

I don't know anything about these, but they look interesting. Tangband's other underhung motors (like in the W6-1721) are nice, so these probably are pretty good from a harmonic distortion standpoint. You can never guess the real frequency response from TB's graphs, though.
And the Focal-esque magnet structure combined with the Seas Exotic style looks and some of Tangband's recent pricing trends make me afraid to see the price tag. They probably cost more then I could bring myself to pay for a Tangband product, even if I were into big full range drivers.
When they're available, I'd love to see someone pull the trigger on these and take some response graphs and distortion sweeps.

Did e-mail list price? I've been looking at those for about a week at another site but price was claimed unavailable.

Thanks for the link, Lindell. I don't know why I'm so darn inept about doing things on the internet. Appreciate it.
Soupy, no price listed. That was some of the information I was wondering about. Normally, I would expect something like this to start beaming real low in the frequency response, but the whizzer cone and the plug makes me wonder if the sound dispersion might be wider than a "normal" full-range driver of that size. The claimed sensitivity of 95db and the rise on the top end makes me real curious, too.

Those are intriguing. I hope someone tests them soon!!

they will cost a bundle. they look a lot like a high end focal magnet combined with a hi-end sea exotic full range. the 93db .44 qts is more versitile will run sealed or a horn or vented. it has more xmax 5mm vs 3mm

the trade off is 93db sensitive not 95db. probably a good thing. I got rid of my fostex due to hi sensitive cone hissing at low volume.

Thanks for your input, Phillip.
"I got rid of my fostex due to hi sensitive cone hissing at low volume."
I don't know much about Fostex drivers, but I wonder if there is any chance the cone material of the Fostex was responsible for the hissing, and the paper cone might not have the same problem?
