box size for 12" HF sub?

hello all. i am wanting to build a ported box for my 12" HF and was hoping for some advise on the cabinet c.f. and port size. i'm only gonna be throwing about 250 watts so i need to make it as efficient as possible.

I am assuming you mean the RSS315HF? If so the box ends up quite large. 6.5 cubic feet tuned to 19 or 20 hz.

jenster you are a new poster. I don't know if you mean the rss315hf-4 or the rss315hf-8. this sub is best off sealed. it has qts of .49 that works better in a sealed box. if you make a ported box of 6 cu ft with a 4 inch wide 13 long port it will be "tuned" ideally but it will be tuned to 17hz. with a 250 watt amp. and loud home theater you will bottom it out. if you seal it you get a better sub for music. you can use a 2.5 cu ft box and it plays to an f3 of 33hz. very nice musical sub that will be good for ht.
