    Default Build thread etiquette

I'm just starting my statement monitor build and am going to be taking lots of pictures along the way. When I've done this in the past (my towers, computer speakers, car installs, etc) and I've been more active on other forums I've always posted a build thread and kept it current as I go through the process, sharing my current points of frustration as well as the positive things that happened that day as they actually take place. We're not quite talking daily updates, but I'll post some progress at least once/twice a week.

I'm not sure how well received something like that would be on such a compact forum (two sections as opposed to a couple). I don't want my thread, which will probably be active for a month or so, to keep getting bumped to the top whenever I update it. However, if it's been done in the past with much success then I won't have any issues doing it. Worst case scenario I just post a ton of pictures when I'm done, but that's no where near as fun

It would be nice of PE would make a build thread area as well as something for finished non-project showcase projects *cough cough*

Searching came up with one example (ironically for the same speakers), so I assume it would be ok but I figured I would still put it out there.

So what do you think? Make a thread and keep it current as I build (this thread will live for a while), make a thread when I'm done with a ton of pictures (this won't be as entertaining and also will lose some of the impact waiting for the next update and what have you creates - you know, getting the readers involved), or just skip it all together and post nothing

I would love to see another section for build threads, but I don't thinka nayone minds them here. Post away as far as I am concerned.

I say go for it! Member comments and observations can be useful along the way too. Enjoy the build!

    Keep a blog

Then post a message up on the main board when you have something big to say or ask, and link it to your blog when need be.

Personally I LIKE build theads here. It's one of the reasons I visit here! I see no problem when it bumps to the top when something is added to it.

I suspect that I'm not alone either.

Having a build thread is a great idea. That way, as you go along, people can give you feedback, both congradulatory(sp?) and constructive.

Just keep on bumping it up as you go along would be my 2 cents. This place does love a good build thread.

I posted my build on the blog. I think it should work well. But it doesn't seem to get much traffic.

    Opinions?

It is pretty hard to know when to check for blog updates. I for one feel like I don't read the blogs often. Every once in a while I stumble accross them. THe idea of writing the build thread in the blog and then posting a thread stating the blog has been updated works well.
