Default Dennis Murphy -- CAOW1-3 way

    Dennis,

My brother asked me if I would give him (!!) my MBOW1-3way speakers (original version). I told him that I would do that, but that I would replace the original Peerless speakers with the Peerless SLS 830668 speakers.

I was thinking of building a CAOW1 3way with the Peerless 850146 speakers. DO you have a crossover for such a speaker?

Hi John I'm not sure I'm following this. Are you saying you want to remove the original (and slightly better) Peerless 10" drivers and just pop in the new replacement drivers? If so, you can't do that--the crossover would have to be revised using the new schematics listed on my site. I do have a crossover for the original Peerless as a 3-way using the CA15 and 0W1, but I can't see any reason for building it--in a 3-way, you don't need the extra bass of the CA15, and the GR Research mid is a little smoother. So it seems to me you should either build the new MB0W1 3-way for your brother and keep what you've got, or build the new one for yourself. Or, more precisely, build the new one and keep the one you prefer.

Not too long ago Meniscus Audio had a pair if the 10" CSX on sale. You might want to see if they are still there.

    Dennis,

    Thanks for the reply.

For some reason, I thought that the CA15 was smoother than the GR Research.. I guess that I was wrong.

I'll keep my speakers, and build my brother a pair of the revised MBOW1-3way.

    John
