Yikes! Is that to wake the deaf, or the dead?

    Isn't 140dB harmful, even dangerous?

I had a roommate that could have used one of those. He'd hit snooze for 1.5 hours. No kidding. I'd rather hear that once than an hour and a half of snoozing.

Yes. I'd like to preserve my hearing for the next 50+ years.

I found an easier way to wake my son who also had a love affair with the snooze button.

I put his alarm clock on the top shelf of his bookcase. He had to stand on a chair to turn it off.

After going through that aggravation he wasn't likely to want to do it more than once.

Now really... 140db is as loud as a gunshot (1m). I think it is funny but I doubt very much that anyone would use that.

I always thought that the phrase "Wake up dead" didn't make any sense, but I think that a heart attack induced by that alarm clock could fit that phrase rather well.

Do you know where the expression "dead ringer" comes from?

I hope it's not from playing horseshoes, because that is a favorite backyard summertime game for me. A quick Google search informed me that I was at least on the right track.
