Default 2009 Iowa DIY attendees friday night GTG poll?

Since I haven't done anything to support Doug this year ad he's not able to host the traditional Friday night get together, I thought I'd toss out the possibility of meeting at my house. However, it's about an hours drive west of Grinnell, just east of Des Moines. The wife says, if enough people want to attend, she'll provide food, snacks and soft drinks.

So, it depends on the poll if I can figure out how to post it.

Let's see how many positively respond before I commit one way or the other.

I don't plan on driving further, Jim.

Whoo, yeah, that's a bit of a haul. After 5-6 hours of listening to Marty sing "My Girl" by the Temptations, I think we'll probably want to get out of the car for sanity's sake.

I suspect most will feel that way, but I thought I'd offer. I don't want to take anything away from the local GTG so unless I have an overwhelmingly positive response, I'll kill it.

BTW, please send me an email if you voted to attend.

I'm planning on making the short hop into DSM to ruin my hearing for the big event. Maybe not a good idea but Des Moines rarely gets a decent act to town.

I can't hit the high notes like back in the 70's, but hey, it's not that bad a rendition. Besides, the Michael Jackson crotch grab helps! (ooooh, TMI dude.) Besides, if I'm driving, you're going!

In all seriousness Jim, why don't we just use the hotel bar, or find someplace similar? It's going to be a long day for most of us and we want to be sharp for Saturday. But what a gracious offer by you and the wife!

Good point. And it wouldn't even set me back $.35. We have boxes of them at work.

    Jim,
Thanks very much for the offer of letting us invade your house. I can go either way it's just a short drive for me so I will let the others decide.

    Hi Doug,

I think most of the folks prefer to stay in Grinnell and get together. I just thought I'd offer if anyone felt like more road time behind the wheel. If I was driving as far as many of these guys, I wouldn't want to drive any further either.

Put them in early and your ears will have plenty of time to adjust. By the time the opening act is done, you will hardly notice any attenuation.
