Default Dayton 10" Sub Upgrade Question

I have the Dayton 1.0 cuft sub box with Dayton 10” 80watt SD270-88 DVC sub and looking to upgrade the subwoofer.

My 100w amp is external and the box is sealed.

I am looking at the Titanic MK III 10” sub since its kit comes with the same 1.0 box. I figured it be a good match.

My question is would I be starving the MKIII since my amp is only 100w?

Currently when I watch a movie and there is a sudden thump or short burst of bass, my current sub pops. If I keep the volume down it is not a problem but I loose the point of having the subwoofer. Music is ok but sometimes I like to push the volume and the sub can only handle so much,

Would any other 10” sub work better in the 1.0 box?

    Thanks

The current sub "pops" because it is a low excursion driver. The Titanic won't bottom out in 1 cubic foot, but if you do not have some boost available, it won't play super low (although it will probably do better than the current driver).

No doubt a lot of drivers will work better.....and you are power handicapped. You may get the itch to get a bigger amp later, then a bigger driver, and so on.... A couple of other 10" driver options for now, keep in mind driver cutout sizes may differ slightly:

I built a sub for a friend using a 1 cube PE box (sealed) and used the RSS265HO-4. That said, it might want for a bit more power but you can try it with the amp you have in place already and see if it's doing things for you or not. The sub I built runs a 250W amp and that's more than enough power for a good night in the HT.
