Subwoofer for the ol' man (match to Tritrix)

The Audiosource PSW110 for $100... seems kinda hard to pass up. Built him the Tritrix last month, and while they sound great (22L vented), they don't really dig deep enough for movie effects. I drew his name for Christmas, and this is the only thing I can think of. What do you guys think?

Re: Subwoofer for the ol' man (match to Tritrix)
It's probably decent, especially for the money. 200watts max is likely 80 watts rms.
My logic is that this sub likely doesn't dig deep, as far as subs go. It is probably satisfactory in medium-small rooms but would likely be overdriven in anything beyond low-moderate listening levels. Size it right for the application.

If you wanted to build, Johnny Richards is doing an interesting looking design using 3 closeout Dahlquist 6.5" subs and the Foster plate amp.

About $95 in parts and it looks like it will be cool.

Or you could model up a Dayton Classic sub.

Another budget option, for building. is a 12" SDVC sub in about 3 ft3, sealed. But for off-the-rack, one of the Dayton -100 or -120's would be a good choice, also. Mainly cabinet construction differences. I've seen the Dayton ones and it's a fairly solid cabinet. Haven't seen the Auidiosource cabinet. They PSW power specs are in-line with what brian said. Here's the Dayton equivalent.

It is about $40 bucks more with the extra shipping...it does ship heavier than the PSW, most likely because the Dayton cabinet is built better and more robust. It's only about an inch bigger in dimensions. But if the limit is $100, then I'm sure he'll be happy with the PSW. I just noticed there's free shipping on the PSW, so that could be the clincher. Let us know how he likes it.
