passive crossover designer
when i get my result files inported, every looks just fine. inpedence looks fine. but the frd file was created using 4 da115 in a parralel/series configuration. everything looks fine except pcd has a button to indecate how many woofers are present. should i just leave this set to one? will this make a difference? pcd does not seem to have a button for this configuration. or would it be advantagous to start over and use just one woofer in response mod and expand it to a cascading s/p 2.5 way in pcd?

Re: passive crossover designer
the da115 is 85db and the vifa 89db so with two x two in paralell and the series 91db? a dierence of just 2db. would this need some padding?

If you created the file for 4 drivers then you can leave PCD set for one woofer assuming the 4 file has the right sensitivity. However you have to create a file that represents the new impedance of the 4 drivers if you wired them two in series and then parallel for the same impedance as a single driver then you should be ok.
Keep in mind that PCD will think your 4 woofers radiating from one spot as long as you are not asking them play to high this may be ok. If you plan on crossing fairly high I would consider making files for just the 2 series drivers then load that and tell PCD you have 2 woofers wired in parallel and use the center of each driver pair as your distance from the tweeter. This will give you better veiw of how it is going to sum.
Either way your impedance file needs to be altered to represent the multi driver file you are using.

Have you done baffle diffraction on the driver files. I would expect the DA115 will lose some sensitivity unless you are using a really wide baffle.

Re: passive crossover designer
thanks, that makes sense. no, i have not. my thinking is that with it laying on its side angled toward my chair, ( it will be above the tv about 5 ft off the floor on a shelf with lots of framed photos behind it), that the defraction figures will be inacuate, and and the effects negligable. is my reasoning off here?

If you don't need the coordinates for each driver you can do what you have done. Otherwise you can do this:

Second, If you really want textbook values then just go to the Crossover Calculator page of PCD and get them there, and enter them manually. However, why use them at all? Textbook crossovers have very little usefulness.
Jeff
I have been using Excel 2007 since I first loaded PCD. The only problems I get is when I pan down I have to wait for it to catch up. When I loud or change section files I get this run time error. I just click end and it seems to go on fine.
Sometimes a values won't show. If I have a third order parallel the L3 doesn't show but the values are there and working in the graph. If I toggle the selected filter up then back down it shows up. I first spotted this when I loaded the files you sent me. One in the woofer circuit doesn't show until I toggle up then down.

Re: passive crossover designer
i did not have this problem until i downloaded the new version. i thought it was a good step to get a start. and the adjust from there? i'm concerned that the da115 going to 1600 might not mate well with the vifa d25.ut i really i might pick up the reference silk dome wed and see how it does. ive been tempted to use the da175 with the vifa, but i want the low profile of the 4". not really sure if i should use a 2nd order LR or what. i know the four of the da115 in a p/s should get me about 70hms from woofer box and circuit. but cant seem to get pcd to agree. of course i wont fire the shop heater up until this cold gets a little milder, so i guess i have time. ill pick up the silkie anyway. that is rs28f. 1600 to 20k fs541. i thik i would have to pad the 115's a bit. like 3db worth. thoughts?
