Looking at my upcoming gig, I want to minimize people stepping on my cable or even having to watch out for yellow jacket cable protectors or the like. In order to do this, I am thinking of running a signal chain that looks like this...

source
25' or shorter balanced cable
100' snake
FOH mixer with FX (A&H Mixwizard 16-2)
splitter (Behringer MX882)
delay (Behringer Shark DSP110)
EQ*
snake return
approx 100' balanced cable
powered mixer (Peavey Pvi4B)**
short speaker cable
speaker (Kustom KSC10ML stage monitors used on stands as fills)

*haven't purchased the EQ yet but plan on getting one with two channels. Would I be wrong in assuming that 1U EQ's are difficult to operate with any degree of accuracy due to the short travel of the sliders? Also I'm thinking in order to properly shape the sound, 31-bands are more than twice as good as the 15-band?

** I use the Peavey powered mixers in this case as amps, and although they have 3-band EQ, plan on setting everything flat since they will be near the speakers, not the FOH so not adjustable during the show. This is why I need more than one EQ. The speakers powered by the Peaveys are not the mains, but rather fill speakers for a long multipurpose room with lots of hard surfaces. This will keep the sound from having to be cranked up too loud just so people in the back can hear.

Is it too much to add 100' to the snake's 100' to and from trip? That's a total of about 325' at line level plus all the connections, insert(s) and other opportunities for signal degradation. I'm thinking I'm okay here but thought I would get feedback from experienced people. I should note that the line level run is intended in part to shorten speaker cable runs.

The mains will be EQ'd separately due to being different (more powerful) speakers powered by a GX5 for each side of the stage.

This gig is basically a seminar with very little focus on music so I'm thinking I'll leave the subs at home for this one.
