Default Dahlquist WFR-06VB04B, why change from 7mm to 5mm xmax?

I noticed that the Dahlquist WFR-06VB04B specs changed from 7mm to 5mm. Why the change? Where are the specs coming from?

I was thinking to buy 4 for a TMWW... but can't be sure now as there's still no specs.

Well, sure glad I bought SIX of them based on the specs that were originally posted. I wonder if I can get 20% of my money back, based on 20% lower output capabilities?

There goes several hours of modeling down the toilet... whoosh.

I think PE should provide FR data for these, maybe I can use them in some other application rather than a slim tower sub - since even 3 of them at 5mm Xmax isn't going to do what I wanted.

Oh well, caveat emptor, as the saying goes.

Well crap! I bought one to use as a computer sub. Well I guess I'll build it and see what happens. I can always swap with another driver later. It does kind of suck to find that out now though. At least I didn't buy six!

In all seriousness, what is the procedure to contact PE so I can speak with someone about this?

Just remember, xmax isn't xlim. It takes 150w input power to drive three of these in 45L to 6mm......Presuming you won't be running them that loud with sine waves i think you'll be fine.

    You mean 28.57%.

i agree. i picked up EIGHT of the blue 6.5" woofer and EIGHT of the subwoofers for a project for a friend of mine and emailed and posted asking for some measurements, but haven't gotten a response. and now the specs are changing? i'm tempted to send them all back. in retrospect, i'm kinda glad i was too late to pull the trigger on a couple of the 240W subwoofer amps yesterday, although those are good stuff, and i'm sure i would've found another use for those later.

Well.. if there are no specs that's one thing, but if PE is changing the stated specs then that means they know something... so why not share it.

yeah, i just think from a business perspective taking one set of measurements would probably take less than a day, and help move a lot more product by saving customers some guesswork, so it's a bit frustrating. don't get me wrong -- i've been a customer here since the mid-1990s and still think PE is a great company. i've just noticed more and more variation in specs (catalog vs website vs datasheet) and less FR/Z data posted over the past couple years, and it's a little disappointing.

i realize it's the holidays and everyone's busy, i just figured they'd get to posting something eventually. and that's the chance i'm taking on the mid-woofers, that they'll be what i'm looking for, but as johnny pointed out, for subs you can do the first-level cut at the design from the T/S parameters (if they're accurate).

so a measley 2mm of xmax turns these from a future sub project to what then ? would we be cranking these to the point where 2mm of movement would defeat the intended purchase and use anyway ?

i can't believe that three of these wouldn't or couldn't be built to outdo my old Bose sub from my 2.1 system i no longer use. someone please tell my noobness that it isn't so !!
