Default I'd just like to say thanks...

A big thanks to PE for hosting this forum, and to the countless people who have so generously contributed their expertise in my quest for audio Nirvana.

Not only have I ended up with some amazing sounding speakers that somehow I managed to build myself, but I've also made some good friends.

I've really enjoyed providing the forum with build threads. I feel it's the least I could do to contribute to a community that's been so valuable to me... it's very gratifying to me that others were able to learn from what I've contributed, and nice to get feedback on my work from others who appreciate the art.

I've been involved in a number of different hobbies, with a number of different internet forums... this forum is by far the best I've ever been a part of... people genuinely want to help, there's a minimum of smack talk, very little OT crap, and just a great spirit to this place.

I'm writing this because upon completion of my sub build, it looks like I won't be building any more speakers for quite a while... I've got a baby coming in a few months, so priorities must shift.

I'll still be around, but no more builds for many many months...

So thanks again to everyone who helped make all my builds possible... they would not have been possible, nor nearly as enjoyable, without being able to share the process with all of the fine folks on this site.

    Cheers, and happy building...

    Dan

yes congrats. I haven't been here very long, but have already benefited from your information/posts/builds.

Kids take all your hobbies/priorities and make them disappear.

Now, instead of big speakers builds, you can do little speaker builds, or maybe 150watt baby monitor!

In a few years your new child will need speakers for his/her room and you can build them together. What fun

    Best of luck.

Prov 18:24 A man who has friends must himself be friendly...

Based upon the Bible passage above, having made so many friends illustrates what kind of a friend you are.

Enjoy you child (is this the first?), and give them the priority. It's cliche', but oh so true that they grow up so fast. You will never regret having spent "too much time" with your children, but the opposite is not true. You will always have opportunities to build more speakers, but you only have one shot at being the best father you can be. From what you've said, I can tell you already have your priorities in the proper order. BTW - As I said before, enjoy them now, 'cause they turn into TEENAGERS!!!

I expect you to expose your child to quality music and speaker building at an early age! Force a quality custom build on him/her at an early age. Train him/her to design/build quality systems. You must recruit him/her!

    No, Dan, thank YOU.

It's been fun watching you go from noob to respected builder, especially in such a short time.

Best wishes and best of luck for you and your wife!

But you don't have to stop building, you can just build them, you know, slower.

Congratulations! I have to echo what others have said....your life will never be the same again. It will be better! I have enjoyed your build threads and I'm sure they have helped many as they plan their projects. Your level of craftsmanship with regard to cabinet building has surely rubbed off on me, or at least some of it!

I'm sure you'll be reading the forum during some of those 3AM feedings!

Congratz on the new addition to the family. You've built a bunch of fine speakers and watching them get built has been a lot of fun. Because of you I bought a tube of Green 3M Acryl Fill. Biggest tube of toothpaste I've ever seen.

The kid will shake things up for a bit and spending priorities will definitely change but if you enjoyed building your speakers you'll probably still find things to do. Got friends who need speakers? Get them to front the money and you can build em for them when you have time. Need computer speakers for your desk, theres something you can do that doesn't cost much. And in a few years the kid will be up and about and they can "help" you with your builds, god knows mine does.

In the mean time it'll be fun just to still have you lurking, occasionally putting in your 2 cents and waiting to see if and when you do your next build. I'll always wish I had the tools and paint expertise that you have at your disposal.

In the mean time I'm going to go buy a camera tripod today and start trying to post a few pics here and there of the Statement Monitors I'm building for my friend and my Zaph Waveguide TMMs that I'm building for myself, so you can look forward to living vicariously through me for the next few months.

I, too, will be the live-vicariously-type regarding your Statement build, since that is definitely something I'll build in the future. Not sure which version, but I'll be looking forward to your listening and SQ impressions.

Dan, your attention to detail in all your build threads were always very helpful in helping me to understand some of the things that just escaped me.

You will always be remembered by myself as a big contributor to this forum.....

Again thank you for all your build threads.

Hey Lunch, is this your first baby? If so, get as much sleep as you can right now...you won't be getting any more for a few years.

Beware!!!! If you leave now you may have escaped the building bug fever. As for me and many others it is to late.

You make one and say that's it, but a few months later you get the itch to try some different drivers.

So Run away, and run fast!!!!!!

But seriously I love this hobby! Good Luck!
