Only thing I can't ever get right that is driving me nuts is my binding posts. They always come out SLIGHTLY too close and then I have to slightly bend dual banana plugs. Thankfully I use single banana plugs....

Thanks again Lunch, I'll throw a brace between the baffle and the current brace. What is generally considered too big of an area to not be braceD?

I like it... I'd do another one exactly like it on the other side of the tweeter... but even of you don't, that's still a good improvement, the unsupported areas are much smaller now.

Thanks Lunch. I'm gonna go with what I got. The largest unsupported area is 11 x 9, which I'm content with being....

I've always made the self-conclusion that as long as it's somewhere around 12x12 or smaller that it is ok (kind of got lazy here and glad Lunch pushed me....)

Time to glue in and put top on.... sand, then maybe stain!

I was looking at your pictures -- I like what you've done with the oak on the baffle. That should look nice. How do you plan to finish the MDF portions of the baffle? I'm assuming you'll be using a natural finish on the oak portion.

Also, it looks like you rounded over the vent opening and the PVC conduit at the same time. That looks nice. Keep the photos coming. I'll be starting a HT project soon using Curt's Tritrix speakers -- if PE can keep them in stock long enough to fill my order.

Thanks! The oak will be stained mahogany, and the mdf will be piano gloss black (or as close to piano gloss black as I can get ).

I've set this up to match my D8's quite nicely. If you look at things like the baffle, the binding post recess, the two tone, squared edges, they should match real well.

Center channel has now been primered, sanded with 220, primered again, sanded lightly with 220 and 400, primered again and wet sanded with 400 and 800.




This has been by far the best paint job I have done so far. Cant lie, real proud of myself.....

Although it looks a bit late now, are you stuffing it with anything? I read on Curts site to line the walls or 50% fill. I think I will line mine with egg crate or similar.

yeah, I'll be putting some batting in there..... I'll probably use some 90 spray or some sort of adhesive....

I had soooo much of the acousta fill I ended up using that. I lined the walls about 3" thick, hot glued in place.

Question. Should I pull up the masking and re-lay it, or do I just keep on going and put the black down?

Looking to put the stuffing in. Now, I bought batting to line the walls and am not sure how thick to make it. The batting is pretty dense, about an 1/8" to 1/4" thick, somewhere in there. I was going to fold it over 4 times. Now do I put this on all walls except the baffle? or just the sides and back?

Mine sounds good with about 3" of Acousta Stuff glued to the sides and rear panels. It isn't tightly packed but not loose and fluffy either.

Thanks Arlis. I'm really excited about this one. The seams haven't popped out once so far and this thing has been in process for quite some time. I'm debating about paying a body shop to lay the black and clear or do it myself. For the time for me to do it with the cost (probably $30 in paint and clear) I can probably find a body shop to lay the black and clear for $50-$75. hmmmm......I just masked it off for the black....do or die time.
