Default OT: But relevant for our hobby

I day trade, have been doing it for almost 2 years now. So I'm always aware of what's going on in the markets. If you haven't heard, or didn't realize how it could relate to us, the debt problems with the PIIGS (Portugal, Ireland, Italy, Greece, Spain) are causing big drops in the Euro. What that means for us is that the European manufactured drivers will almost certainly cost less to distributors. We've seen Seas and Scan Speak drivers increase in cost significantly over the last 8-12 months because of Dollar weakness. I'd guess that within 4-6 weeks we'll start to see the prices of some of these drivers go back down a bit. Certainly US distributors will be paying less for the same driver, the only question is if they'll pass along those savings to the consumer. If the Euro weakness/Dollar strength continues and we don't see prices drop, I wouldn't hesitate to write sellers and remind them that price gouging ain't cool

They have too sell off their older "expensive" stock first.

Good heads up. And also a good point by AE. WIll probably take a short while before those reduced costs are realized by the customers.
But good to know that it will likely be happening down the line here.

We've already been experiencing relative Dollar strength for the last month. I'm sure some drivers have already been restocked at costs less than Q4 of 2009 prices.

I think that we will see normal behavior for commodity type goods WRT driver prices. This means when costs increase, increases are passed on to customers quickly while when prices fall, decreases in prices come at a slower pace.

Perhaps one could order directly from Europe?

Of course, following the oil pricing model ...

I do with my RAAL and Audio Tech drivers. Since they want payment in Euro's, my cost changes in real time.
