I drove in from Northern Westchester to Stamford; wish I had worked from home instead. But we only have 4-6 inches on the ground now. Most of the really heavy snow was west of us where you are.

Between the 2 DC area storms I calculated that I shoveled right around 13 tons of snow. I'm getting a 2-stage snowblower before next winter, and if it never snows again then it will still be a good investment. I'm too old for this sh*t.

Man, the NE and mid-Atlantic states are really getting it this year! I grew up in NYC and remember some impressive blizzards, but not just one after another like they seem to be hitting this year.

Here in W. Oregon, we're just having rain, rain, and more rain. Being an El Nino year, temps are 7-10 degrees above normal. Crocuses and daffodils in full glory, all the trees budding out, plums already blossoming, and most all the migratory birds back already. Oh, and did I mention lots of rain?

If there is never another El Nino it will be too soon.

We got 1-1/4" day before last. If one discounts the 14" dumping we got back in December this would be a record low year for precipitation. Most of WI is in a winter drought state.

Yeah, that storm is still throwing cold air down on us here in W.N.Carolina... and it had been warming up real nice!!

I hope the reservoirs and lakes are filling up out that way-that region could use it. I toured the Kiowee-Toxaway a couple times as a kid, my uncle said last summer water levels were lowest since it was built.

It was like Spring yesterday here in North/Central California. The Sun was out, the sky was blue, the birds were chirping and the flowers were blooming. Today it's dreary overcast and raining quite a bit.

I've got a place near Waynesville - no one there right now - what's the weather/snow scene?

Another awesome snow, I love it! Maybe only 10 to 12" here in my part of Bergen County. If it wouldn't have been so wet, it probably would have been a lot closer to 24".

Once the chore was done, it was a perfect day to kick back and peruse used CD sites!

Yeah, we were in a drought for close to 10 yrs, but last summer and this winter we've gotten plenty of rain/snow... down-right mushy to be exact! One gigantic storm after another has brought up all the rivers 'n' lakes... flushed out all the well water too, it was getting real "funky"!

Yep, I'm in Asheville... plenty of snow this yr, and a bit colder than the last 8-10 yrs.

Well, I dunno. Guess it depends on where you are. The warmer temps mean lower heating bills, but OTOH the farmers may have a harder time due to too much rain now, and not enough seepage from snow melt later in the summer. We're not building the snow pack in the mountains that feeds the water table thru the dry months. And if this follows the usual pattern, the summer will be exceedingly hot and dry.

There have also been a bunch of big washups of weird dead sea critters over on the coast. Possibly some toxicity issues there.

I'm not a "global warming" cultist, but it does seem that some odd natural cycles are coinciding these days. Then again, I remember an old man in a gas station in west Texas in 1972 saying, "yep, the weather ain't been right ever since they went to the Moon."

The trouble with normal is, it always gets worse.
