I have used it for several years. I will look on the bottle and get the part number. Its price, about 85$ a gallon, but it lasts me several months, so it should last the hobbiest a long time. You just applie to both surfaces, allow to dry abotu 30 min, then stick and press it hard, and its stuck and nover coming off

Thanks nik,it sounds like it would be easier than using the PVA/ iron on method.I don't do enough veneering to need a gallon ,hopefully it's available in quart size.

    Nice work. They look beautiful.

Do you know if the 3M adhesive might be impervious to water? As in using water based dyes to color the wood? I know contact adhesives are susceptible to heat. I used some to put a wooden decal over my fireplace mantel frame and after about a year it kept sliding down on one side.

not sure about the water issue, but i knoe once dry, nothing cleans it up, so it wont discove in water or any other solvent. We used this at my work because it did not react with solvent based finishes, but I would guess it would be fine with water based as well. This is not like a solvent based adheasive. All I can say is buy a small amount and try it, and you will veneer no other way

When you apply it, do you have to do like other contact cement, use an in between layer so you can correctly position the veneer? How did you place the sheets on the substrate?

    Thanks,

    Darren

    Nik,

Also, where can the average person pick this stuff up? I assume it's not available at HD or Lowe's.

i order it online, just google it.

I just over size my veneer and start at one edge and lay it down, then rub ut down hard with a piece of wood. I have never used the wax paper method, but i have seen it done. You can also use dowel rods to hold it up on larger pieces
