I'm not quite sure what the problem is from your description, but yes, almost any new piece of equipment can be brought into square. That's the first thing I do when I buy a new tool. I take it apart, and bend, file, tap, or do whatever it takes to get it closer to design spec.

If your saw doesn't have the blade at 90 degrees from the saw foot, look for some sort of stop that can be tweaked to make it correct.

I sorted out squareness on a new Makita circular saw on the blade/foot area using a good square. I also made sure the blade was parallel to the guide edge.

Then I make sure I treat it very well. If I drop it, I start over.
