How to destroy a TzuJan in one stupid move (pic)
One mindless lapse. I had the TzuJan's sitting in the entryway, ready to load into the car. This morning, I was next to them ready to put a leash on the dog. I bent over and yes...... there was a **** crash. One of those blessed **** crashes. Don't deny it, you've had one too.
One of the speaks tipped over backwards and crashed to the floor---hard. Miraculously, the exterior had very minor damage. Hey.... wait, that woofer sure looks funny all askew like that.......

.... all four corners.
Darn..... lost an unobtanium Vifa D26NC55 too - the plastic clip that holds them together broke. No visible damage to the MDM55.
Fortunately, I had a spare driver for each. Out with the old in with the new......... C'est la vie. Darned glad I had the spares.
DIY Atlanta is Saturday, I am combining a convention tonight and tomorrow with the event on Saturday. See your there if you are going.

Wow, sorry to hear that Maynard...ouch! You lost a pair of tweets at Iowa, I hope this isn't a trend, it could get expensive to travel.

Blech. So far I've only dropped one of my Dayton BR1-S units, which I'm not even that fond of but I still swore up a small storm. i cant imagine the conniption fit I'd go through if I actually broke an expensive or irreplacable driver. I'd probably just explode on the spot, poof, no more Matt.

That driver looks repairable. If you want to try to do it I think it could be repaired. All 4 spokes have the same break?

Your D26NC55s can be reused, perhaps in another project, without the clipped on faceplate. Zaph discussed how to mount these from the rear in his blog (the text is gone now it seems, but here is a CAD file showing how to create the mount):

Too bad about the woofers, though.

Guys, if ALL of the legs/spokes on the basket broke, that voice coil and former more than likely got man handled inside the gap.
Being defeated is often a temporary condition. Giving up is what makes it permanent.

I was going to suggest the same thing. I used the same concept on the Duo-S with the d26nc55 and on the Duo-T with the Dayton ND28. It works quite well, but changes the response significantly, so you'd want to be able to measure it.

The way this tweeter is constructed, I doubt it damaged the VC. The flange/housing just snaps over the body of the tweeter and does not attach to the surround or vc in any way.

I'm planning on mounting my pair of D26s in MCM waveguides for a project that is currently on deck (up after I finish my HT mains). So, I might be able to give you the piece you need, assuming it's not needed when the D26 is thus mounted. If you're interested, let me know.

I agree, that looks very repairable.
