It was my first speaker build so bear with me. But its using 4-Peerless SDS 6.5in woofers, and a Goldwood GT-520 1" Soft Dome Horn Tweeter. It uses a 2-way dual-woofer 3000hz @12db crossover. And its made with 3/4in mdf and finished with truck bed coating. I plan on doing some more work on the outside like recessing the tweeter, filling the nail holes, sanding, and more of a higher gloss finish I just didn't have alot of time or the items needed when I built it.

nice looking project. and i don't mean to second-guess, but having heard a number of different ones PE carries, you might want to consider swapping out the goldwood tweeter for something else before you do the final finishing. Either the dayton ND20FA or ND20FB are good for under $10, the vifa bs25sc06 is about the same price, and for something closer to the cutout of the goldwood, these are within 1/8" diameter difference are probably a big upgrade in sound quality for less than $5 more:

Thanks for your input. Im a beginner and all suggestions/input is encouraged. The reason I chose this tweeter was #1 being the price and #2 it being a horn loaded tweeter. I like the sound of a horn tweeter and all of my other speakers are klipsch and have horn tweeters so I thought my center channel should have one also.

no problem. the vifa bc25sc06 is only $11 and is also horn loaded, and it's pretty good for the price.

Ooo I like that one. Do they make that one in an 8ohm version? And isnt Peerless and Vifa the same company?

Oh, no my friend. You need to worry about Noel Lee. Monster Cable sued Hansen Beverage Co. over the Monster Energy Drinks. Along with Monster Vintage Clothing, Ski Monsters, Monster.com, Disney over Monsters Inc., and Monster Mini Golf.

Ya well I will take my chances with Noel Lee going through with a very expensive and time consuming lawsuit over a person building a speaker, and putting some monster energy drink stickers on it, and then calling it "the monster". Thanks for your concern.

Well, you got cajones tackling a four woofer center channel as your first project Most people build a proven subwoofer design their first time.

Are those the $10 Peerless SDS woofers? If so, I am pretty sure forum member Dirk measured those for another member. I believe that Goldwood tweeter was measured over at zaphaudio but he hated it lol. Still, it is a source of measurement so you wouldn't be operating blind.

Sometimes I think a good crossover on a bad driver is way better than a bad crossover on any driver so if you have not already, download some of the free software out there and start tinkering!

Until not to long ago all I thought a crossover did was take the high frequencies out of a woofer and the low frequencies out of a tweeter. But its alot more complicated than that. What would be some good free/cheap hardware and software to start with? Thanks for your help. Oh and yes they are the $10 woofers.

If you have MS Office or access to MS Office, then you can download JEff Bagby's excellent spreadsheets found here. After that it is just adjusting to the learning curve!

The Peerless woofers look like they will be very easy to work with but that tweeter... hmmmm.

If you do not have access to MS Office, then I dunno what to use.

Ask for help in the main forum, I know several people have done projects using Dirk's measurements and most of them will be glad to supply help for you.
