Internal Damping for Jeff's Continuum
I have some 2" Wedge Foam or 1" Bonded Dacron that I want to use for internal damping on building Jeff's Continuum. The box isn't very big so 2" is "too thick".

1. My understanding is that 2" wedge foam is open cell foam so it won't impact internal volume. Am I correct?
2. 2" is too thick as the picture show and it will "touch" the woofer. I assume that's not ideal.
So for the sides and bottom, should I trim down the 2" wedge foam to provide clearance for the woofer. For the tops and back, if it doesn't touch the drivers, I can leave it as is.
Or is it better to use the 1" Bonded Dacron?

I would think the Dacron would provide better damping than the foam.

Re: Internal Damping for Jeff's Continuum
Dacron has a pretty light density, and in such a tight space you might be better off with a material that's more dense. What comes to mind is F13 acoustic felt, made with a high wool content (hollow fibers). This will do the job in less space, so you can reduce the insulation thickness, when you don't have room for thick padding. F13 is probably 5x-10x as dense as the Dacron, but still soft enough not to reflect sound at mid-band frequencies.

Here's a pic of mine. I used foam. Don't go too thick. Make sure the driver has good clearance. However, dacron is fine too. Really.
