Default I'm looking for Zaph's past design.

Hi, this is my first post...
I'm looking for Zaph's past design using Silver Flute W14RC 5.25" woofer.
I don't know why he removed his past designs. Perhaps Copyright...?
Anyway, is there anyone has that design layout?

Sorry for just short question. I'm not familiar with English.
    Thank you.

I don't think Zaph ever used the Silver Flute in a design.

You can see a picture of it here:

but as he says he thinks the ZMV5 is an improvement.

He certainly gets points for "keeping his garden weeded", though it can be frustrating at times.

Surely, ZMV5 can be better than past design.
But, MCM's appearance doesn't look good for me...
And I can buy W14RC at madisound with other parts at one swoop.
    Thank you.

Xavier and I did a small one, bottom half of this page

The Vifa D27TG45 on the Mad sale page would probably work as the tweeter.

Thank you for information about your works.
Then, is this Zaph's design? Maybe not...
Surely, your design is useful for me too.
And information about D27TG is great. It's on sale... Wow.
    Thank you.

Zaph writes this on his site:
I feel I could have done a better job with design choices. It did sound good but it could have sounded better.
Apparently he's not very happy with it, so why not go with Lou's design.

We built those as surrounds, so ultimate low end was not a priority. You can probably get more low end out of that woofer. I think I still have the files, so let me know if you want any details. It's not Zaph's design.

    Thank you for everyone.

My main concern isn't copy of someones's whole design.
Than that, I want to know pro's(like Zaph) knowhow about W14RC.
What xover point and slope, how much BSC, box simulation etc...

But regrettable, nobody seems to have his design materials.

Dude, Lou is no slouch (like me). He knows this sh!t inside and out. Check out his website. I'm sure his design wrings the most out the SF.

    Sorry to HareBrained, and LouC.
I didn't understand fully what HareBrained said for my poor English Skill.
But he seemed to be somewhat angry about me.

I don't think anyone is upset. He was just saying you should consider Lou's design. It sounds like Zaph wasn't 100% satisfied with his design, so Lou's may be a better choice anyway.

No worries, your English is fine. I wanted to say that if you need help, Lou is the guy, especially if he offers to assist. Lou is a great guy and he really knows what he's doing with respect to getting the most out of a combination of drivers. Getting the most means knowing how to design and voice a crossover (XO) properly, which Lou knows how to do. I've had the pleasure of building a few of Lou's designs and they continually win listening comparisons at my house versus more expensive retail, brand-name speakers. The favorites from all those comparisons are Lou's Azurite design, from friends/family and me. So good, that they are the ones I use in my personal 2-channel-only music system with the subwoofer I designed.

Do you have Zaph designed one?
Can you give me its xover layout and the box, port information?
    Please...

Unfortunately I don't have the schematics for it.
I was thinking of using the cabs from this speaker for smth else and can sell the drivers/crossover cheap.
they are well made solen, air cores, mills resistors for the tweeters.

Is this the one you're looking for?

If yes, let me tell you what I didn't like about it. It crossed over to the tweeter a little high, and the woofer operated in a frequency range where it wasn't that clean. While the speaker didn't sound bad, I could never call it great. Also, the baffle was needlessly complicated, and I could have just compensated for the acoustic center offset in the crossover. It's a nice woofer, nice tweeter, but just not the best I could do. The ZMV5 pretty much blew it away on all counts except for bass output.

Now if I haven't talked you out of it yet, PM me here and I'll help you out. If you do build it, listening off axis actually helps clean up the midrange so don't toe them it. But I'd recommend you build some other design.

    John
