OT~Shipping Crates For Speakers

Just another idea for those that ship speakers! Found these at U-Haul and they are quite nice!! U-Haul calls them Dish Barrels!!!These cartons are double cardboard and external dimensions are 18" x 19" x 29"! Have shipped a couple sets of MTM's in them and they arrived in great shape via FedEx! They cost about $7.95 ea! These cartons also have cutouts on the side for a nice finger hold! For what it's worth, U-Haul stocks quite a variety of boxes and cartons

You can most likely get perfect packing supplies like closed-cell foam strips and styrofoam corners for free from the back of your local furniture store. Or wait till someone buys a piece of furniture and offer to follow them home, unpack, assemble and clean up the mess for only $50!

Those dish barrels are great if you can fit both your boxes in one.

We have a couple of places here in town who will make custom double thick boxes to spec for around $10-$15 each. I used them for the Calliopes. Cost me a bit more for the boxes, but saved me a ton of packing time. I pretty much use only the rigid Styrofoam sheets now. Had them built 2.5" bigger all around than the speaker.

You could probably ship 2 ways in one box, depending on their size! I have shipped MTM's up to~ using 7" woofers in these cartons. I usually encase the cab with bubble wrap then white styrofoam from 1" up to 2" depending on the size of the cab. Wadded up newpaper helps if there is room for it!

Something I have done with some buyers is remove the woofs and tweets and ship them seperately for the buyer to reinstall! This has really cut down on damages and having to mess around with insurance claims!

I shipped a set of MTM's awhile back that had Seas 29TFF/W tweeters installed! They got dropped so hard by UPS that the inner inverted face plate was sheared off from the rest of the face plate and ruined the tweeter

Since switching to these cartons I have had no damages
